Dalton Academy (Dalton)
Dalton Academy (Dalton) is the one of the Affiliated High School of Peking University’s six academies to offer an international curriculum. Dalton was founded in 2010 as an international program embedded within the Affiliated High School of Peking University, serving 10th to 12th grade students who aspire to study abroad. Dalton offers an organic, student centered, research focused and project based educational experiences. We not only expect our students to morph into astute academics, but also to develop into academics who will positively impact and enhance the educational experience of their peers.
English Liberal Arts Teacher
Summary
PKU School seeks an individual who can facilitate meaningful learning experiences for high school students with English as their second language. The ideal candidate will provide an engaging, English environment for students to learn across several classes of content. These classes will prepare students to think critically, develop their language comprehension/composition, improve in communication skills and to study in English programs of universities abroad.
Schedule
40 hours a week (Monday to Friday) and some evenings, weekends or holidays may be required for special events or trips.
Key Responsibilities
Course construction:

12 hours instructional time, minimum 8 office hours for student meetings per week, and remaining hours are spent towards professional learning community meetings, planning and marking;

Create engaging class experiences using flipped classrooms, discussion-based learning and project-based learning;
-
Evaluate learning and track student growth, assisting with individual learning plans.
Collaboration support:

Collaborate on unit and project planning;
-
Contribute to the growth of the academy;

Supervision of students on a year-long Individual Research Project (IRP);

Chaperone week-long experiential learning trips for Experiential Learning Program (ELP);

Collaborate with colleagues to develop dynamic, student-centered experiences that focus on skill development;

Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and faculty to personalize, support, and differentiate for individual students;

Periodic but infrequent evening or weekend student activity supervision maybe required;

Requirements
• Master’s degree or higher in education, language, literature or relevant field
• Minimum 2 years teaching experience, preferred in language and literature
• Interest in teaching and developing core and elective curricula
• Experience teaching ESL learners is a plus
Social Sciences Teacher
Summary
PKU’s Dalton Academy is dedicated to providing students with exposure to global and social studies with a focus on learning that is experiential, non-traditional, and project-based. The core aims of the department are development of academic skills, learner engagement, and student agency. The ideal candidate will also be committed to this type of learning and teaching. The ideal candidate aims to cultivate this learning experience for students, while also collaborating with faculty toward the development of department goals, as well as supervise individual student research projects. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and knowledge to teach multiple social science subjects using a variety of social science approaches.
Required teaching load will be four sections of courses, including core courses and elective courses.
